OnePlus the never-settling Chinese start-up would finally unveil the OnePlus Two in a product launch event slated for the 27th of July. The company plans to have a different approach from the regular “auditorium, a keynote, and a seated audience” style of launches in the mobile world. This time the makers of the ‘flagship killer’ are planning a unique way to interact with the audience through a virtual reality (VR) powered product launch.
According to a forum post by administrator Carl, OnePlus is using a different approach to launching a new device and also letting users explore the phone in ‘a new way’.
The VR experience would be handled by OnePlus own cardboard VR which have been modified from the various cardboard VR. According to Carl, “When we thought about doing this launch in VR, we wanted to make sure the viewing experience was simple and straightforward. We love the existing cardboard VR headsets, but we saw some room for improvement, and decided to design our own custom headsets. We spent a lot of time at the drawing board tweaking them until they were perfect. Our version is tailored perfectly to the One, as well as fast and easy to assemble. We didn’t cut any corners on production, and we’re definitely losing money on this. But, we want to share them with everyone.”
